Bomb Threat at US Mensa HQ

EnvelopeThankfully this turned out to be just a hoax. An unsigned letter was first opened Monday but employees did not take the vague threats written in it seriously, said police Sgt. Richard Grimmett. “They receive letters of this type on a routine basis and only gave it a cursory look when it first came in,” Grimmett said.

When employees re-examined the letter Wednesday morning, they called police after they discovered a second envelope that the threatening letter claimed was an explosive device, Grimmett said. Between 20 and 30 employees were evacuated from the building at 1229 W. Corporate Drive, located off Avenue J west of Texas 360, during the investigation.
