Book of Tells Review (Author: Peter Collett)

A Tell is an identifying gesture that can give the game away say in Poker. Holding your hands, a twitching muscle anything that unknowingly (to you) reveals your emotional state.
Collett is the resident psychologist from Big Brother on Channel 4 and in this detailed book examines what makes a Tell- the four conditions needed for a tell to be picked on and how to detect counterfeit tells. There are an enormous number of tells- virtually everything we do can reveal things about us.
Tells aren't limited to Poker- they occur for example between male and fenmale and can be a signal to their intentions. Its almost always women who signal that a man can approach them. Posture can be as important- a woman exposing her neck or wrists, peering through hooded eyes or pouting lips are all availability tells. Other tells include boss-worker relationship reinforcement or lying tel;ls- covering your mouth briefly as if to stop the lie you're telling.
A fascinating book, well worth a look.
